I’m Lizzy! I am a compassionate, open-minded, and solution-focused mental health professional. My professional focus includes providing counselling to clients who may be looking for support with Physical Diagnosis and Navigation, Self-Esteem, Anxiety, Depression, ADHD in the world, and Life Transitions. I inspire to elevate and empower others through my values of shared self-growth, empathy, and mentoring.
I hold a Master’s of Social Work degree and am a Registered Social Worker in Ontario, bringing extensive experience from the disability and youth/ young adult sectors. When I’m not working, I enjoy being active, spending time in nature, and playing video games with friends.
We can’t sugar coat the fact that therapy is hard work. I always will do my best to honour this fact when we work together. Similarly, the therapeutic process is never clear cut, either! And I’m here to accept the ways in which you wish to learn and grow that make sense to you as an individual. I am constantly learning from my clients and appreciate what each unique individual brings with them to treatment. There will be hard times ahead, but some laughs along the way while we work together. I look forward to a shared goal of self-growth!

Elizabeth has worked in the field of social services for the past 14 years. Much of her work has been focused on supporting people with autism, their families and caregivers. She completed her undergraduate degree in disability studies at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and a master’s degree in psychotherapy from Yorkville University. Elizabeth practices therapy from an anti-oppressive, social model perspective. Practicing from this perspective means that she is open and supportive of diversity and all manners of beliefs.
Elizabeth is the sibling of a person with autism. Although her brother is very independent and lives on his own, Elizabeth is his primary caregiver. This relationship inspired Elizabeth to go into the helping profession, but has also been the impetus for her interest in working with burnout, especially caregiver burnout and professional helper burnout.

Elizabeth is also a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. She brings her lived experience both professionally and personally to inform her therapy approaches.

Hard doesn’t have to mean bad, and it never means hopeless. In the middle of everything we face we can discover meaning in our lives and find a reason and the strength to push through difficult times. I know the way hardship and suffering shapes our lives; life is hard and there is no secret weapon and no magic bullet. Life cannot be lived in isolation, and our struggles can’t be resolved without human interaction. My purpose is to walk with you through the hard work of determining your own purpose and face your struggles. I would be honored to support you as you further identify your own purpose and meaning.
I earned my BA in philosophy at the University of Waterloo and my Master’s degree through Martin Luther University College at Wilfrid Laurier University. I have worked with people struggling with food insecurity and homelessness, relationship breakdowns, addictions, traumatic experiences, and many folks working to pick up the pieces of their lives and to move forward into a healthier way of living.
I believe that human beings are always spiritual but I don’t think that spirituality and religion are the same thing. Our spirituality is sometimes expressed in religion, but also in art and music, in love and language, in reason and imagination. I work from an existential perspective, which means that I am focused on the search for meaning and purpose we are each engaged in, and I think that many of our psychological struggles are a reflection of that larger search. I blend influences from several psychotherapeutic approaches including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Logotherapy, Person-Centered and Psychodynamic therapy.
I have been married to an incredible woman for over twenty years, and I am the proud father of two (almost) grown sons. I speak only English and I am jealous of people who can think in multiple languages. I have more books than I have shelf space, and I constantly struggle between finding a new book to read, going back to an old favorite, or finally making it through any of the ones I got stuck in.

Irene is a seasoned Registered Social Worker with over 25 years of experience supporting individuals through their mental health, addiction, and trauma recovery journeys. Irene’s career has led her through diverse community and hospital settings, equipping her with a profound understanding of complex emotional and psychological challenges. She holds two undergraduate degrees from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) and completed her graduate studies at the University of Toronto.
Irene’s personal history deeply influences her approach to therapy. As the daughter of refugees who arrived in Canada under difficult circumstances, she grew up within a framework of unspoken family dynamics and complex emotional responses to stress. These experiences shaped her sense of identity, mental health, and her approach to life’s challenges. Irene’s practice is guided by core values of purpose, abundance, and meaning, with therapeutic approaches rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She is currently completing her certification in Integrative Somatic Therapy and will be pursing training in Biodynamic Breathwork in 2025 to expand her holistic approach to healing.
Today, Irene resides on Treaty 6 territory, the traditional land of the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Métis, Dene, and Nakota Sioux. This region, also known by the colonial name Edmonton, Alberta, has become her home, where she lives with her spouse and three beloved (and perhaps slightly spoiled) dogs.
When Irene isn’t working with clients, she finds joy in crocheting, macrame, and getting lost in a great book. Her practice is a compassionate space for individuals seeking growth, connection, and healing, where she warmly welcomes each person’s unique path and story.

Hi, I’m Amy, a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), dedicated to helping individuals and communities thrive. With over 20 years of experience in Mental Health and Addictions, I hold a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Bachelor’s in Social Work from the University of Manitoba, along with an undergraduate degree in Anthropology. My journey into therapy was sparked by a deep curiosity about human behavior and cultural influences, and this unique background enriches my practice as I work to understand and support the diverse experiences of those I serve.
In my therapy sessions, I create a warm and welcoming environment where clients can feel safe to explore their thoughts and emotions. I focus on building strong, trusting relationships, recognizing that connection is essential for effective healing. I have worked with individuals facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues. Each client’s story is unique, and I am committed to honoring that individuality in our work together. My approach is holistic, integrating various therapeutic techniques tailored to meet each client’s needs.
As a therapist, I use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. This combination helps me effectively address various mental health challenges. CBT allows clients to change negative thought patterns, while DBT teaches skills for emotional regulation. CPT is beneficial for processing trauma, and Solution-Focused Therapy helps clients identify strengths and practical solutions. I believe these approaches empower clients to build resilience and achieve their goals.
Balancing my role as a therapist and a mom to two athletic daughters is both challenging and rewarding. I cherish the opportunity to support my daughters and their passions while guiding my clients through their own journeys. I’ve learned to be present in each role, whether I’m cheering from the sidelines or offering a listening ear in my office. This dual perspective enriches my practice, as the insights I gain from parenting enhance my understanding of the challenges faced by my clients. Ultimately, both roles remind me of the importance of resilience, empathy, and the value of striving for balance in all aspects of life.
If you’re looking for a compassionate and understanding therapist to support you on
your journey, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can explore your challenges and work towards your goals in a collaborative and empowering manner. Let’s take this important step towards healing and growth together.

Owner of HOPE Centered Counselling.
Janeen is a Registered Psychotherapist and in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Registration with CRPO #006190 for Insurance purposes.
PAIN IS REAL BUT SO IS HOPE!
Her WHY…..
Although it wasn’t something she wanted to do, after enduring significant hardships in her life, she finally decided to go see a therapist. She discovered the importance of having a compassionate and caring listener, to feel seen, heard, understood, and supported in a way she wasn’t familiar with. The experience was life changing. The gift she received was something she wanted others to experience. It taught her that the courage to be vulnerable, to trust someone again, when trust didn’t exist, actually helped her begin to heal her own wounds. She discovered hope again, something hard for her to believe in. HOPE became the key to everything that followed. She realized that there are way too many people out there that need a Sharon (her first therapist) to help them through the mud, the pain, teach them, cheer on, support, challenge, and help discover hope again. Becoming a therapist is Janeen’s life purpose and she takes her responsibility very seriously; giving people the highest standard of care, regard, and respect because she knows what it’s like to be a client herself.
Janeen has over 13 years experience in a variety of organizations, and completed her Master of Art’s in Spiritual Care & Psychotherapy from Wilfred Laurier University. Janeen’s undergraduate degree in Counselling Studies was completed at Emmanuel Bible College and she later became employed as a guest lecturer and faculty adjunct. She identifies as a spiritual person, Christian, but not religious, and finds beauty in, and has respect for, all beliefs and practices. She holds additional training in helping First Responders, Anxiety Interventions & Relaxation Strategies, Exposure Therapy, Resiliency, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS).
Janeen is very passionate about helping others succeed! Through her rich history in leadership roles she has developed unique services for professionals in leadership positions, and works with therapists looking to become leaders of their own practice. In recent years she has become a strong ally for clients suspected of or diagnosed with ADHD. She collaborates with healthcare members if needed, and assists with medication optimization to fill in the gaps. And lastly, but not least, she is very proud of the work she has done over the years to help clients improve their relationships through communications skills development. People are struggling so much because no one ever modeled or taught healthy communication. Hope Centered Counselling is taking up the torch to make a change and allow people a fighting chance to get through the inevitable hard times in personal and professional relationships.
She helps individuals 16+ in person, and online, seeking personal counselling in Fergus, surrounding areas, and all over Ontario. She works with many different experiences such as anxiety, social anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stress, grief and loss, self-esteem, ADHD, level 1 ASD, codependence, boundaries, communication, emotion regulation, life transitions, family dynamics, self development, spirituality, self-worth, parenting, childhood wounds, decision making, leadership, self-awareness, bad habits, women’s issues, men’s issues, stages of life, aging, identity and gender expression, porn addiction, sex addiction, food addiction, and a whole lot of trauma. A lot!
When she’s not in the office she finds joy connecting with her family, hiking with friends, having adventures to bring out her inner child, and traveling to warm destinations. Some of her favorite things to do when she’s trying to unwind in her busy life is watching movies, cooking food with her teenage son, folding laundry, and last but definitely not least, snuggling with her giant lovable dog Jasmine.
